They let me across the border!

I made my way to Canada today, fulfilling my goal of going somewhere out of the States. I'm currently in a hostel in downtown Toronto, thankful of being out of the car. It was a long drive and I discovered that I'm not good at crossing borders...or driving in "foreign" cities (God help me if I ever go where they drive on the other side of the road if I'm nervous about driving in Canada!!).

The drive went pretty quickly and I will give credit where credit is due...Al Franken's book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them," is freakin' hilarious. I checked the audiobook out of the local library before heading off and it kept me laughing and distracted from the clock. At least until I crossed into Canada and had to start converting kilometers into miles and then miles into minutes, trying to figure out when the hell I'd make it to my hostel.

Anyway, if you're traveling, check this book out. Unless you're conservative. Then, just don't.

So, anyway, not sure what tomorrow will bring, but hopefully it'll be amusing for me and interesting for you to read after the fact.

Ha ha. Thanks for the comments. :) CANADA! You beat me there! I've never been yet, but my coworker Lexi is from Cananda, so I'm sure I'll be taking a trip up there to visit her at some point after I return. I really want to check out that Franken book. Still haven't gotten a chance to read it yet. I also want to read Jon Stewart's "textbook" as I have heard it's also hilarious. Hope you are having fun and staying warm. (Only you would go to Cananda in the winter! LOL) Love you and I can't WAIT TO SEE YOU! :D

PS How much money do you want to make for 3 days of teaching? It's totally up to you. Just let me know what you think is reasonable and I'll give your offer to the school.

Franken's book is amazing! i'm reading it for about the fifth time right now. Also, i recommend his book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot."

Hope you're doing well- i miss talking to you. Take care of yourself.

Indeed, Franken has a new book (only in hardcover up to this point), entitled "The Truth (with jokes)".

Very funny stuff.

It is somewhat disappointing, however, that because of the reluctance of the so-called "liberal" mainstream media to actually show some sack, and reveal one-tenth of the genuinely foul stuff the Rethuglicans are up to, we wouldn't need gadflies like Michael Moore and Al Franken to call them out.

Because if you don't read Franken, or listen to Air America, or visit Daily Kos or other liberal blogs, or watch Moore's movies-in other words, if you're not a self-described liberal to begin with- you'll never have any idea of the atrocities against democracy and justice and international human rights that the Bushistas have visited upon us.

If only the mainstream media really was a "liberal" media.
